Educational Foundation

The Vinita Public Schools Educational Foundation was chartered in 1989 and incorporated as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The goal of the Vinita Public Schools Educational Foundation is to recognize and encourage academic excellence in Vinita Public Schools.

An all-volunteer board of trustees oversees the operation of the  foundation, assisted by other community volunteers serving as needed. The foundation exists outside the formal operational boundaries of the school system but in conformance with the goals and objectives of the Board of Education.

A major portion of each contribution becomes a part of the permanent endowment fund which is managed for long-term growth by The Tulsa Community Foundation, 7010 S. Yale, Tulsa, OK 74136. The remainder is used for funding of the VPS Educational Foundation’s local operations and projects. The foundation receives contributions from individuals, businesses, community organizations,memorials/tributes, planned giving, and fundraisers.

The programs supported include:

Grants to Teachers

Teachers submit proposals for innovative teaching programs. A committee determines winners of “Great Ideas Grants.”

Honor Top Students

Top students grades 4-12 are presented Certificates of Achievement in awards assemblies, and top students grades 9-12 also receive Academic School Letters.

Recognize Outstanding Teachers-Teacher of the Year Reception

Teacher of the Year and candidates are honored as well as retiring teachers and all teachers past and present.

Hall of Fame Award

Loyal Supporters of the VPS Educational Foundation are honored, and their names are engraved on a plaque at Vinita High School.

Principal for the Day

The business community is invited to visit the schools, shadowing the principal, to create a better understanding of the schools.

OFE Fall Forum

Foundation Trustees attend the Fall Forum in Norman to learn how to make our foundation more successful and effective.
