VINITA, OK – Vinita Public Schools (VPS) continues to demonstrate commitment to student success by fostering advanced academic offerings and career-focused partnerships. With a student body of approximately 1,200 scholars, the district is providing Hornet students with multiple avenues to achieve their future goals while in high school.
Advanced Academics: Onsite AP Calculus
Vinita High School (VHS) is proud to highlight our onsite Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus course. This rigorous program allows students to engage with college-level curriculum in a familiar environment, guided by local faculty who are invested in their success. Calculus is a key component of the district’s "College Readiness" track, which prepares students for the transition to higher education. By offering this onsite, VHS ensures that students seeking college admissions have the additional high-level math credits without having to travel.
Bridging the Gap: Concurrent Enrollment and Associate Degrees
To further bridge between high school and college, VPS offers robust concurrent enrollment opportunities. These programs allow eligible scholars to earn college credit while simultaneously completing their graduation requirements.
Pathways to a Degree: For students dedicated to this pathway, it is even possible to earn an Associate's Degree concurrently with their high school diploma, providing a significant head start on their professional or higher education journeys.
Graduation Credits: Concurrent college classes are accepted for graduation credit with administrative permission.
College Readiness: To support these students, seniors are permitted "College Days" during the year to visit campuses and discuss future enrollment, ensuring they are well-prepared for life after VHS.
Future-Focused: NE Tech Career Pathways, (CareerTech formally Vo-Tech)
Vinita Public Schools is growing our collaboration with Northeast Tech (NE Tech). The budding partnership provides students with hands-on training in high-demand career fields.
CareerTech Integration: The district’s commitment to career pathway training is reflected in our financial investments dedicated to CareerTech programs onsite.
Work-Ready Curriculum: These pathways align with the district’s "College Prep/Work Ready Curriculum," ensuring that every student graduates with either the academic foundation for college or the technical skills for the workforce.
